Everyone benefits from good child care. You can receive the Universal Child Care Benefit (UCCB) if you have a child or children under the age of eighteen. This benefit is designed to help Canadian families, as they try to balance work and family life, by supporting their child care choices with direct financial support. The UCCB is paid in installments of $160 per month per child for children under the age of six and $60 per month per child older than 6 but under 18.

The universal child care benefit was cancelled in 2016.  The last payment was sent in June 2016.  Instead, the new Canada Child Benefit, which is a tax free benefit, was adjusted so that more families will benefit.
