Important tax information on the Child Disability Benefit or (CDB).
The Child Disability Benefit is a tax-free benefit for families who care for a qualifying child under the age of 18. A qualified practitioner, on form T2201, must make the determination of a qualifying child.
To be eligible for the benefit a child must have a severe and prolonged disability, lasting at least 12 months.
To apply for benefits, have your practitioner fill out the Form T2201, Disability Tax Credit Certificate then send the completed signed form to your tax center.
