Registered Retirement Income Funds (RRIF)

A RRIF is a retirement fund that you establish and that we register in order to provide income during your retirement.

You can transfer property into a RRIF from a Registered Retirement Savings Plan (RRSP), Registered Pension Plan (RPP) or from another RRIF.

In the year after you establish a RRIF, you will begin to receive an income from the RRIF. This amount is dertimined using a formula based on the value of your RRIF and your age. This income may be taxable and is to be included in the preparation of your tax return.
